The Week
Art Basel Miami Beach runs December 4-6, 2026, but the real week starts Monday and does not end until Sunday. What began as an art fair has evolved into the social, cultural, and commercial epicenter of the American art world — and increasingly, the fashion, music, and tech worlds as well.
The Fairs
Art Basel Miami Beach (Convention Center)
The main event. 280+ galleries from 38 countries. This is where seven-figure transactions happen between collectors, advisors, and institutions. General admission gets you in the door, but the VIP preview on Wednesday is where the energy peaks.
Design Miami
Across the street from the Convention Center. Collectible design, limited-edition furniture, and installations that blur the line between art and function. Less crowded, equally impressive.
NADA (New Art Dealers Alliance)
The emerging gallery fair at Ice Palace Studios. This is where you discover the next generation. Prices are accessible. The artists are hungry. The work is often the most interesting of the week.
Untitled Art Fair
On the beach at Ocean Drive and 12th Street. The setting alone is worth the visit — art displayed in an architecturally striking tent with the Atlantic as a backdrop.
The Parties
The Rules
1. Book hotels by September. South Beach and Mid-Beach sell out entirely. 2. Dress for the occasion. Basel is fashion-forward. All black works. Sneakers are fine if they are the right sneakers. 3. Eat early or eat late. Restaurants between 7-9 PM are impossible during Basel. 4. Carry business cards. This is still how deals start in the art world. 5. Leave the Convention Center. The satellite fairs, pop-ups, and installations in Wynwood and the Design District are often more rewarding than the main fair.
Art Basel WKND packages include hotel blocks, fair passes, and curated party access. Early booking opens September 2026.
