DC Watch Party Guide for FIFA 2026

Washington DC doesn't host World Cup matches, but it's 2.5 hours from Philadelphia (which does) and has one of the most international communities in the country. The watch party scene will be world-class.

DC Watch Party Spots

The National Mall Area

Expect organized screenings near the Smithsonian museums or on the National Mall. DC is a natural venue for large-scale public events.

Dupont Circle / Adams Morgan

The bar scene in Dupont Circle and Adams Morgan is perfect for match watching. Lucky Bar (DC's original soccer bar), Madam's Organ, and the rooftops along 18th Street will all be packed.

Penn Quarter

The area around Capital One Arena has multiple sports bars and restaurants with big screens. Clyde's, The Pub, and Penn Social are reliable.

Embassy Row

During the World Cup, many embassies host public viewing events for their national teams. Check embassy websites for schedules — these are some of the most unique watch party experiences you can find anywhere.

Day Trip to Philadelphia

  • Amtrak: DC to Philly is 1.5 hours on the Acela, $50-150 each way
  • Drive: 2.5 hours on I-95
  • Lincoln Financial Field hosts multiple World Cup matches
  • Book Amtrak early — match-day trains will sell out
  • Tips

  • Embassy watch parties are the hidden gem — culturally immersive and often free
  • Lucky Bar is the OG DC soccer bar — arrive hours early for any match
  • The DC Metro runs until midnight on weekdays, later on weekends
  • For Philly day trips, Amtrak is better than driving (parking near the stadium is limited)
