# Overtown Music and Arts Festival 2026

The Overtown Music and Arts Festival returns on July 18, 2026 for another free, family-friendly celebration of one of Miami's most historic neighborhoods.

Overtown was the cultural and entertainment heart of Black Miami during the Jim Crow era — known as "Harlem of the South" — hosting Ella Fitzgerald, Sam Cooke, Aretha Franklin, and countless other legends who couldn't stay at Miami Beach hotels but headlined shows on the other side of the bay. The festival honors that legacy with live music, visual art, food vendors, and community programming.

What to Expect

  • Multiple stages featuring R&B, hip-hop, soul, jazz, and gospel
  • Visual art and pop-up galleries highlighting local Black artists
  • Food trucks and restaurants featuring Overtown culinary staples
  • Family zone with kid-friendly programming
  • Free admission — bring the whole crew
  • Logistics

  • Date: July 18, 2026
  • Location: Historic Overtown district, Miami, FL
  • Cost: Free and open to the public
  • Parking: Street and lot parking; public transit recommended
  • Why It Matters

Overtown's neighborhood revitalization is one of Miami's most important cultural stories. The festival is a flagship moment — it's where artists, residents, and visitors come together to invest time, attention, and dollars into the community. Show up and support.

    Around Overtown

While you're in the neighborhood, check out:

  • Lyric Theater — the historic venue that hosted Duke Ellington and Cab Calloway
  • Jackson Soul Food — Overtown institution for Southern cooking
  • Black Archives Historic Lyric Theater Cultural Arts Complex — exhibits on Black Miami history
  • Plan to make a day of it. Miami in mid-July is hot — wear breathable clothing, bring water, and pace yourself across the day.
