March Madness 2027: The Best Cities for the Tournament Experience

The Tournament

March Madness is 67 games across three weeks in cities across America. The first weekend is the sweet spot — 32 games in 4 days, 8 venues, and the energy of a fan base that believes this is their year.

Best Host Cities

Indianapolis

The unofficial capital of college basketball. Lucas Oil Stadium hosts the Final Four regularly. The city shuts down for the tournament — every bar, every restaurant, every hotel lobby becomes a watch party.

New Orleans

The Superdome has hosted more Final Fours than any venue. Combine that with Bourbon Street, Frenchmen Street, and the best food in the country — it is the ultimate tournament destination.

Las Vegas

The newest addition. The sportsbooks turn March Madness into a spectacle. Every screen, every seat, every square foot of casino floor is tuned in. Bet the games, watch the games, celebrate the games.

Houston

NRG Stadium brings Texas hospitality to the tournament. The tailgate culture crosses over from football. The restaurants in Montrose and the Heights keep you fed between sessions.

How to Do It Right

  • Book the first weekend. Thursday and Friday have the most games and the most upsets.
  • Get session tickets, not single-game. You see 4 games per session.
  • Stay near the arena. The walk back after a buzzer-beater is part of the experience.
  • Wear your colors. This is the one sporting event where fan loyalty defines the crowd.

  • March Madness is not a tournament. It is a national holiday that lasts three weeks. Pick a host city and show up.
